servicing the head

hello I have a 93 pick up 22re. It started running rough and when I got home, I was checking it out and pulled the dip stick and found it contaminated with water! I'm assuming that it is the head gasket so I pulled the head.

should I have the head checked at a shop since I have the head off? it looks ok. the truck never got hot and I have been noticing over the last few months that the coolant levels have been low.I would ad water and within a few days it was low again. until now, I had no contamination in the oil. thank you

Hello, how many miles are on it? The 22re is bad for timing chain guide breaking and letting the chain wear through front cover allowing water to enter crankcase. Does it rattle when first started till it builds oil pressure? Hope this helps, Steve
