"VSC" Trac control, service engine lite

this afternoon, the "VSC", Trac control and service engine light came on our 2008 van with 62K miles.

I have had the engine service light on before, my wife took it by the dealer and they punched some button, as the oil change schedule was not on the same schedule as I have been changing the oil.

We got the manual out and read about the "VSC" trac control, thought I might have hit it with my leg. We punched the button but the light did not go out.

Anyone have this problem before and what was the cure.

Thanks.

wife took the van by the local dealership today and they pushed the engine servcie light reset button.

(does anyone know where this button is)??????

he told her he did not think the engine light was caused by the oil change schedule.

He checked the fuel tank cap and moved it around some, then she made a service appointment for friday. He told her they would hook van up to their computer for a $85.

But he told her the light might go out in the next two or three starts.

It when off after the thrid start later in the day.

I have no assurance that the light will stay off, but the next time i fill the fuel tank I will stop pumping the gas when the pump auto cuts off and not try to bump it a few more times to top fuel tank off.

a search on this forum noted that fuel from a overfilled tank can be drawn into the evaporator canister. This can cause the service light to come on.

will keep you updated if the light stays off.
